In this episode, we talk to Sherry Gamble Smith, the founder and CEO of WENet, a non-profit organization that helps to empower women. She is also the founding president of the Tulsa-Oklahoma Black Chamber of Commerce.
Working with an entire organization of dedicated individuals, Sherry is passionate about mentoring women of all ages, to motivate and empower them, helping them build their self-esteem in order to cope through different life challenges. This passion also exudes through other parts of her life as she runs an event planning company with two of her daughters.
Sherry tells us about her social contribution in Tulsa, the 1921 Greenwood Race Massacre that caused a devastating blow to the black community and its local economy, and how she, together with allies, continue to fight against racism, advocate fairness and work hand in hand in providing equal opportunities for her fellow African Americans.
